NFL Draft: Mass Native Will Levis Became 'That Guy' As No Teams Took Him In Round 1

What a difference a day makes.

University of Kentucky quarterback Will Levis, who was born in Newton, Mass., and grew up in Middletown, Conn., was a potential No. 1 pick heading into the NFL Draft Thursday night, April 27. Thirty-two picks later, he's still on the board.

Entering the first night of the NFL Draft on Thursday, April 27, University of Kentucky quarterback Will Levis — the mayonnaise-in-his-coffee drinker born in Newton, Massachusetts, and raised in Middletown, Connecticut. — went from a potential No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft to not being picked at all in the first round.

Throughout the broadcast, cameras continually cut to the 23-year-old as he huddled with his girlfriend and his family, in what felt like a mean prank by the third hour of the draft. It became harder to watch than Levis' other celebrated eating habit: chowing down on a banana with the peel still on.

But social media never lets a moment of cringe pass by unannounced.

As Levis fell further and further down the board, armchair analysts let the tweets and Facebook posts fly. These are a collection of some of the most noteworthy or funny.

This is not the first time a suspected top pick has languished in the green room waiting for his prom date. Future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers famously sat alone as team after team passed him up before the Packers took him with the 24th pick during the 2005 NFL Draft.

It's something Levis discussed with reporters weeks ago when he said he would only attend the NFL Draft in Kansas City if he believed he'd be picked early.

"I might not want to be that guy in that green room that the cameras are just always on," he said.

The NFL Draft has six more rounds to go and Levis is sure to get picked up. Right?

If anything, it will make for a comeback story for the ages if Levis can make an NFL roster and prosper.

The NFL Draft resumes Friday, April 28 at 7 p.m. with rounds two and three.
